Collection of Mining and Geology
The mining collection is of great importance for the economic history of Pregrada, and the permanent exhibition covers the period from 1942 to the closure of the mine in 1975.
Gallery
Mining was presented with the help of documents and photographs dating back to the Second World War, when Stjepan Tudjina bought a mine in Pregrada. After the Second World War, coal was an important energy source, so the progress of Pregrada and its citizens took place largely thanks to Pregrada coal mines. The population of Pregrada, as well as other parts of Hrvatsko Zagorje, worked in the mine. Production of the Pregrad coal mine in 1970 was 77000 tons of coal, but as oil became a much more important energy source, production gradually weakened, the money of the mine was diverted to new activity and the mine was shut down in 1975. In addition to documents and photographs, the exhibition also includes mining carbit lamps, mining tools, a flag and a ceremonial mining uniform.
In addition to mining, the geological past of the Pregrada is presented in the same area with the help of fossils of the Pregrada region. Fossils were formed at a time when the Triassic Sea was warm in this area, approximately 230 million years ago.
